The coach turned up exactly on time which was a little unsettling as it would have been comforting to have seen it 5 or 10 minutes earlier, especially as we were attending a funeral. Also, although I had been texted the driver’s number the day before when I did call it about 10 minutes before my pick up time to check the coach was on its way I got a very blank response from the driver who said he was not on the job and did not know who was. So the pick up experience could have been a little smoother! The coach itself was clean apart from some empty bottles of prosecco which were rolling around on the floor! The driver was polite and friendly and we set off in good time. I had allowed double the driving time to get there as it was a funeral. However, I had not realised the driver would use SatNav that did not have real time traffic support and we ended up driving a route that was very congested. In the end I used my own Google maps and navigated and we got there in time. The funeral service was twice as long as anticipated and because of the error in texting me the driver number I could not contact the driver to alert him. I slipped out of the service to call the main office and left a message as instructed to say I could not contact the driver but that the funeral was going on much longer than I had anticipated and would it be possible to make the pick up time later. As it happened by the time someone rang me back from the office, I was already back in the service so I simply asked the driver if he was happy to wait longer and he agreed. On the drive back he used his own Google maps and the journey home was speedy and efficient and he had got rid of the empty bottles. So there were some hiccups with the pick up but all in all things were fine and the driver was understanding of the situation. Would therefore use Select again despite those initial issues.
