About the Association of Tennis Professionals
The ATP is the governing body of pro tennis circuits. There are currently 64 tournaments in more than 30 countries. The World Tour showcases talented male athletes competing in some of the world’s most exciting venues. From Asia to the Americas and Europe to Australia, the selected tennis stars of this year’s World Tour will duke it out for ATP Rankings points and prestigious titles. At the end of the season, only the Top 8 qualified doubles teams and singles players will compete for the last title of the season – the Nitto ATP Finals.
The finals will be held at The O2, in London. It will be staged in a round-robin format and players will compete in three matches (minimum) each during the group stages. They are battling for a berth in the knockout semi-finals. In addition, each session will include a world-class doubles match.
2017’s Nitto ATP Finals brought a magnificent close to an unforgettable season. Last year’s tournament pitted famous tennis players such as Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal against several must-see newcomers. The event eventually culminated with Grigor Dimitrov (Bulgarian) scoring a spectacular 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 win in the final. His opponent was Belgium’s David Goffin.
