Announcements from The European Tour have confirmed that The Scottish Open will be held at the Gullane Golf Club this year. While some are surprised that the tournament will again be held in Scotland, this has not diminished enthusiasm for this exciting golf event.

About The Open
It has been three years since Rickie Fowler won at East Lothian, and now professional golfers will get another opportunity to showcase their skill. This year’s event is expected to feature fierce competition and will include both men’s and women’s editions. This event is regarded by most golf enthusiasts as being one of the top tournaments of its kind in the world and as such demand for tickets is quite high.
The Gullane is one of Europe’s most spectacular golf courses and it made sense to host another event here given the success of the previous one. It provides an opportunity not only to showcase the world’s best golfers, but the natural beauty of Scotland to a global audience, which will no doubt have a positive impact on tourism.
Golfers Expected To Compete This Year
Just a few of the golf stars expected to compete at this year’s event include Adam Scott, Rory Mcilroy, and of course, Rickie Fowler himself, who will return and attempt to capture another title. This venue is one part of the Europe wide Rolex Series, which is group of world class golf tournaments which will occur in multiple cities, culminating in a final showdown in Dubai. The minimum prize for winners is expected to be approximately $7 million USD.
Women’s Open
Golf fans attending this event can also expect to be treated to performances by a number of professional female golfers, as the Aberdeen Asset Management for the Ladies Scottish Open will be co-sanctioned via the LPGA and the LET for the first time ever. The Chief executive of the LET, Ivan Khodabakhsh has stated that the Aberdeen Asset Management has done outstanding work in elevating the tournament for each of the tours, which was echoed by Mike Whan, the Commissioner for the LPGA. The women’s open is expected to be held roughly two weeks after the Scottish Open which gives female competitors the opportunity to perform in Scotland prior to the RICOH British Open.
